Even if I liked Mosaic (I gave it a chance with some soccer and basketball, but that just confirmed that I am not a fan of sparkly Prizm), $1 a card is a hard no - there isn't a single Mosaic base card I'd buy out of the dollar bin

You used to be able to get some very solid hobby boxes that came with guarantied hits, guaranteed parallels, and inserts in addition to base cards for less than $1 a card.

Indeed, I think that Score hobby boxes are still less than $1 a card - and those come with four autographs and multiple parallels and hobby exclusive inserts - and are MUCH better looking cards.
