Jordan Rookie Card damaged when submitting

Jordan Rookie Card damaged when submitting
I recently had Fleer Jordan rookie damaged when I took it to get Graded this past year…
Beckett was doing their remote drop-offs for their cards so I went to one a shop to drop it off.

I first asked him if he had any trouble with removing cards from holders, he said no. I was worried because this card was in the case for so long and wanted to double-check. He then unscrewed it and then tried to remove it from the plastic penny sleeve with his thumb and index finger. But It was stuck a little and wouldn’t budge… now here is where I have the problem, he should have put the card down, asked me to remove it or we should have tried to find a specialist that would have released it carefully from the sleeve without damaging the card…

But instead, the guy brutally rips the penny sleeve apart from the card, separating the two sides of the penny sleeve! You could literally hear the penny sleeve rip from the card… All I said was f$ck outloud! You could visible see some of the red parts on the card on the sleeve…

I was amazed at what just happened. He then asked me what I wanted to do? Like he didn’t want me to send it in… and he wanted to try to just make me give up submitting it as to not be responsible… I said no go ahead and send it in. He said he would and when I got it back I would pay the few hundred dollar fee. But a few days later he called me and said I needed to pay the Beckett fee upfront, as he thought it was a fake… I was like no it's not fake, I’ve had it for 20 years, I checked it with all the fake markers like the detailing of the fleer logo and so on…I was 100% sure it was real... I felt like he was really trying to get out of me sending it in as it would absolve his responsibility. So I went in to pay the fee and continue the grading, I also recorded the conversation with him when I went in… I complained about the way he handled the card and said that I was not happy, he then got defensive which makes the recording more damaging as I got him to admit he did indeed damage my card on a recording. He then says he will buy the card from me. I thought this was strange as he just said it was fake? Why would he want to buy a fake card, again a way of getting me to not send it in.

So I got back the card few weeks later and he kept saying how he was surprised by the grade of the card… I thought he was talking about maybe a 7.5 or so… no way it was higher than an 8 with the a little of the surface peeled away… but I was pretty disappointed that it was a 6 total score! The subscores (9, 9, 8.5, 5) the surface score was the low 5. Bringing the total score to 6…

So 9 graded cards sell for $100k and 6’s now are about $6k so this guy probably cost me 10 of thousands of dollars by his carelessness. I have a receipt and stuff proving that I dropped it off at this store for Beckett and a recording of when I went back to the store to pay and we argued about what he had done, which implicated himself to ripping the penny sleeve apart without much thought…

Also I found a guy on the internet that removed tape stuck to sports cards so I think there are solutions to release the card without damaging it if done carefully… I mean maybe just letting it sit without the slabs pressing on it might have released it naturally in a few days' time… or maybe some very light heat from a hairdryer… I don’t know there are probably tons of better ways than pulling it apart forcefully.

I have contacted Beckett a few times, but they don’t respond and seem not to want to say anything, probably they might know I have a case for suing are don't want to say anything… I have talked to a few lawyers that I know and going to start a lawsuit. I think damages are min 10-20k maybe more because of this.

So I was wondering if anyone else has any experience with cards getting damaged by Beckett, and if Beckett wants to contact me to resolve it before I file the lawsuit I’m all ears, they have ignored my last emails, so this is my last resort before I file the suit.
