I recently read an article about Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the 25-year-old star pitcher in Japan who is getting ready to join MLB next season.

A little research on DBay showed that he has cards in the Topps NPB Japan sets the last couple of years.

I stopped by Walmart to see if they still had any of the 1-pack blisters of 2021 Topps NPB.

Lo and behold, they did ... I bought one pack, and lo and behold, I pulled this ...





Very, very stoked to pull this 1986 insert - 1:4 packs, with 24 cards in the 1986 set, so in theory 1 in 96 Walmart blister packs.

It will be interesting to see who he signs with ... allegedly the Tigers are on the list of interested teams, so this would be an awesome PC pull.

There were 3 blister packs of the 2021 Topps Japan cards left at Walmart so I grabbed them this weekend - pulled the base Yamamaoto to accompany the 1986 insert shown above.

Not an easy feat considering there are 216 cards in the base set!

The Dodgers brought the big names in to recruit this fella - Kobe and Shohei.

It will be interesting to see how he stacks up in the major leagues.
