Jared Goff and Carson Wentz may have been the first two players taken in the 2016 NFL Draft, but it was the Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card lineup that had some of the most buzz once the season started. The fourth pick in the draft, Elliott’s garnered this status for a couple of reasons.

Typically, running backs are second to quarterbacks in terms of popularity in hobby circles. The bigger reason? The fact that he’s on the Dallas Cowboys.

Ezekiel-Elliott-Rookie-Cards-Header

Even after a few games, Ezekiel Elliott and fellow rookie, Dak Prescott were creating a hopeful future in Dallas. It was a unique situation at the time.

In the years since, Elliott’s play slipped dramatically. He continued to draw plenty of attention, both good and bad. But with his numbers dropping and the Cowboys struggling to be contenders, Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card prices dropped significantly across the board.

While 2016 might have been his rookie year, his first cards came out several years earlier. 2013 Leaf Army All-American Bowl includes Ezekiel Elliott autographs throughout the checklist. These cards were done prior to the running back starting college while he was still in high school. Although these are his first cards, and certainly worth checking out, they’re considered prospect cards, kind of like minor league cards are in baseball. It’s not a knock against them, they’re just not Rookie Cards.

But what about Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Cards? There are lots of them. Whether you want something affordable or looking for the most valuable, get a full breakdown and ranking of all of them.

Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card Rankings

The following is a list of the most valuable Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Cards according to the Beckett Football price guide and database. Only cards with the RC tag are taken into consideration, not inserts or parallels.

39. 2016 Classics Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #212

Want something retro? This is the card. The graphics and font might not evoke the 1960s or 1970s but there are many elements in the product that are. From a tactile standpoint, there’s the card stock that avoids a lot of glitz and gloss. 2016 Classics sticks with a low-end approach with lots of base cards. This means the price is on the low end when you put all of Elliott’s Rookies together. If you’re looking for something a little more valuable, there’s a variation with Elliott wearing a red jersey.

Parallels: Blank Back, Blue Back, Glossy, No Name, Red Back, Timeless Tributes Bronze (/99), Timeless Tributes Silver (/25), Timeless Tributes Gold (/10), Timeless Tributes Platinum (1/1)

38. 2016 Score Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #344

Outside of a couple of very early outliers, you’re not going to find a lot of big price tags with Score Football. And that’s the point. For 2016 Score, a hobby version exists with lots of autographs, but this is a product that’s aimed a lot at retail. Like many of his earliest cards, it’s college for both the photo and the team listing.

37. 2016 Panini Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #209

2016 Panini Football went retail with their namesake football release. The shield-shaped outline makes for big borders but the lines are clean. This is a low-end product with not a lot of breakout potential, something that’s standard for a lot of retail releases. Some of the parallels come in everyday colors while others adopt the Medieval theme the product carries.

Parallels: Chainmail Armor, Knight’s Templar Foil, Shining Armor Rainbow Foil, Bravery Green (/199), Chivalry (/199), Sacrifice Die Cuts (/199), Blue (/99), Red (/49), Gold (/10), Black (1/1)

36. 2016 Prestige Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #217

Perhaps the beauty of the 2016 Prestige Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card is that it doesn’t have a lot of frills. This applies to both the design and distribution. The base set only has a few short prints and Elliott isn’t one of them. Prestige isn’t much more expensive in pack and box form than a lot of their other entry-level products. This means the card is both readily available and at reasonable prices no matter how much you spend on cards. Design-wise, the photo is the dominant feature. Other than the set logo and floating nameplate, it has a simple, full-bleed look.

35. 2016 Playoff Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #204

In a lot of ways, this is kind of like the equivalent of Elliott’s Rookie Card in Prestige if he were in a Cowboys uniform. The simple design emphasizes the photo and the price point isn’t over-the-top.

34. 2016 Rookies and Stars Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #186

Not only is 2016 Rookies and Stars a retail exclusive, but it’s a Target exclusive. Rookie Cards in the product come in three tiers with Elliott being among the most common. It’s still something of a short print, just not wildly so.

Parallels: Green, Purple, Red, Longevity (/75), True Blue (/49), Gold (/10), Platinum (1/1), Printing Plates Black (1/1), Printing Plates Cyan (1/1), Printing Plates Magenta (1/1), Printing Plates Yellow (1/1)

33. 2016 Crown Royale Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #98

2016 Crown Royale is one of a handful of retail-only releases from Panini. Although the brand is synonymous with die-cut designs, that’s not the case here. Rather, the product takes a simple approach. The card has a handful of parallels, although the only differences are the serial numbers and the small foil highlights at the bottom of the card.

Parallels: Bronze (/249), Pink (/199), Holo Gold (/149), Holo Light Blue (/99), Holo Platinum (/49)

32. 2016 Panini Prizm Draft Picks Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #105

2016 Panini Prizm Draft Picks came out as a primer of sorts for the year’s rookie crop. While there’s still plenty of veteran content (albeit with everyone in their college uniforms), it’s the 2016 draft class that’s on display. Like the main Prizm line, parallels are both plentiful and colorful. There’s not a ton of value here, but there is the chromium appeal that’s big in many corners of the hobby.

Parallels: Prizms, Prizms Blue, Prizms Red, Prizms Camo (/199), Prizms Purple (/99), Prizms Tye Dyed (/49), Prizms Red, White and Blue (/25), Prizms Gold (/10), Prizms Green (/5), Prizms Orange (/5), Prizms Black (1/1)

31. 2016 Donruss Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #368

2016 Donruss Football is another one that aims for a bit of a nostalgia pop — despite the fact the brand doesn’t have a long history in the sport. But baseball collectors will recognize many of the elements. Most notable? That blue Rated Rookie logo on the front. There’s something to that posed photo that makes it distinct from many of Elliott’s other Rookie Cards. Often, such portraits are saved for inserts or less noticeable secondary shots.

Parallels: Aqueous Test, Press Proofs Blue, Press Proofs Green, Press Proofs Red, Stat Line Season (/294), Press Proofs Silver (/100), Press Proofs Silver Die Cut (/75), Press Proofs Gold (/50), Press Proofs Gold Die Cut (/25), Press Proofs Black (/10), Stat Line Years (/4), Press Proofs Black Die Cut (1/1)

30. 2016 Elite Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #164

This isn’t your 2000 Elite. 2016 Elite Football underwent a sizeable overhaul in the design department. After years of using basic foil for the base cards, the new Elite is more colorful, it has different lines. It’s more modern. It’s just different. Another difference is the fact that Rookie Cards, like Elliott’s, aren’t serial numbered like they were in the past. Given that numbering was often quite high, it shouldn’t make much of a difference when it comes to long-term values.

Parallels: Black (/199), Green (/99), Teal (/75), Red (/49), Purple (/25), Orange (/10), Blue (/5), Gold (1/1)

29. 2016 Select Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #82

This is one of several chromium-driven Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Cards. Not only does it have a mix of Prizms parallels like other sets, but 2016 Select Football has a tiered structure as well. That means that Elliott appears a couple of times in the base set. However, because this is the most common, it gets the RC tag.

Parallels: Prizm, Prizm Tri Color, Prizm Blue (/149), Prizm Red (/99), Prizm Orange (/49), Prizm Tye Die (/25), Prizm Gold (/10), Prizm Green (/5), Prizm Black (1/1)

28. 2016 Donruss Optic Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #168

2016 Donruss Optic takes the regular Donruss Rookie Card and makes it Chrome. It’s part of the Rated Rookie subset. Similar to Topps Chrome before it, Optic was popular for its lower entry point and rainbow of parallel colors. While many of those and Elliott’s autographs in the product carry strong values, the base card isn’t too bad.

Parallels: Bronze, Holo, Pink, Purple, Red and Yellow, Aqua (/299), Orange (/199), Blue (/149), Red (/99), Carolina Blue (/50), Black (/25), Gold (/10), Green (/5), Gold Vinyl (1/1)

27. 2016 Panini Plates and Patches Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #177 /79

If you like a nice action shot, this might be the Ezekiel Elliott card for you. With a print run of just 79 copies, it might be one of the bargains among the running back’s RC crop. It has a clean look but without an autograph it’s somewhat overlooked.

Parallels: Blue (/50), Green (/25), Red (/10), Gold (1/1)

26. 2016 Panini Spectra Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #162 /99

The Dallas running back has two Rookie Cards in 2016 Panini Spectra. Because they’re both numbered to 99 and they’re both in the main set, each gets the RC tag. That said, there are some big differences in the cards themselves and their prices. This first one is a splashy chromium card made more notable for its limited print run. However, without an autograph, it keeps prices down compared to the other Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card on the checklist.

Parallels: Neon Blue (/60), Neon Blue Die Cut (/35), Neon Green (/25), Neon Green Die Cut (/15), Neon Pink (/10), Neon Pink Die Cut (/5), Neon Orange (/3), Gold (1/1), Neon Orange Die Cut (1/1)

25. 2016 Panini Clear Vision Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #169 /99

Right away, it’s easy to see how 2016 Panini Clear Vision stands out. Base cards are all done on acetate, similar to Topps High Tek in 2015 for football and the previous couple of years in the revived baseball brand. At 99 copies, Elliott is among the rarest Rookie Cards in the product. Others are numbered as high as 999. Further contributing to the card’s rarity on the secondary market is the appearance that it isn’t being opened in large numbers. If this is indeed the case, it’ll take some time for the product to dry up. With it, these will likely trickle out quite slowly.

Parallels: Blue (/99), Bronze (/79), Red (/49), Gold (/29), Emerald (/19), Purple (/9), Black (1/1)

24. 2016 Panini Phoenix Ezekiel Elliott RC #216 Auto Jersey /49

With just 49 copies, rarity is a big thing here. That said, there’s a similarity between Elliott’s Phoenix card and his other Rookies in brands like Certified, Unparalleled and Absolute. They all bring many of the same elements to the table. Whether Phoenix can bust out from those remains to be seen, although it faces a tough challenge.

23. 2016 Prime Signatures Ezekiel Elliott RC #282 Autograph /199

Another redemption, the 2016 Prime Signatures Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card takes a different approach to autographs. The signature is done on a piece of fabric designed to look like a jersey patch. However, don’t be confused by it. It’s not from a jersey and it doesn’t come from anything worn by Elliott. It’s simply a piece of signed fabric.

Parallels: Proof Red (/49), Proof Blue (/25), Proof Green (/5), Proof Black (1/1)

22. 2016 Panini Black Gold Ezekiel Elliott RC #100 Auto Jersey /225

The 2016 Panini Black Gold Ezekiel Elliott — or at least what it will be once the redemptions are fulfilled — is similar in layout to his Preferred Rookie Card. Part of the Sizeable Signatures Rookie Jersey subset, it has a large jersey swatch as a foundation. Over top of that is a layer of acetate with a die-cut image and a spot for the signature (slated to be gold ink) at the bottom.

It is worth noting that while the checklist released by Panini states the card has 225 copies, very few redemptions have actually surfaced on the secondary market thus far.

Parallels: White Gold (/99), Sizeable Rookie Signature Jersey Tag (/3), Sizeable Rookie Signature Nike Logo (/2), Sizeable Rookie Signature Jerseys NFL Shield (1/1)

21. 2016 Absolute Ezekiel Elliott RC #204 Auto Memorabilia /199

This is one of several releases from early in the football card season where Elliott is a redemption. The finished card, which is part of 2016 Absolute‘s Rookie Premiere Materials subset, not only has an  autograph but a variety of player-worn and player-used swatches. Numbered to 199, there aren’t a lot to begin with but another factor to consider is the fact that it has only one level of parallels. And that has ten copies. Elliott has some other Rookie Cards that are rare in their base form but when parallels are accounted for, the number more than doubles (or higher).

Parallels: Spectrum (/10)

20. 2016 Contenders Draft Picks Ezekiel Elliott RC #105 Autograph

It doesn’t matter if it’s NCAA or NFL — the Contenders brand is one of the strongest in football. The 2016 Contenders Draft Picks Ezekiel Elliott is proof of that. Yes, it’s signed but it uses a sticker. While some don’t mind, hard-signed cards are often seen as more desirable. As for rarity, the card isn’t serial numbered. And there’s no memorabilia attached to it. And yet, here it is among the most valuable Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Cards. In addition to the regular version, Elliott has a variation where he’s in a red jersey.

Parallels: College Draft Ticket Blue Foil, College Draft Ticket Red Foil, Bowl Ticket (/99), Cracked Ice (/23), College Playoff Ticket (/15), Championship Ticket (1/1), Printing Plates Black (1/1), Printing Plates Cyan (1/1), Printing Plates Magenta (1/1), Printing Plates Yellow (1/1)

19. 2016 Panini Honors Ezekiel Elliott RC #82 Autograph /99

Clean but modern might be the best way to describe the look of the 2016 Panini Honors Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card. It has rarity on its side but the big value draw is the signature. The sticker is one of the reasons that’s likely keeping the price tag down a bit versus some of the other comparable cards out there.

Parallels: Red (/75), Gold (/50), Green (/25), Blue (/5)

18. 2016 Panini Origins Ezekiel Elliott RC #104 Autograph

If you were a fan of the Topps Inception line, it’s kind of back with Panini’s exclusive. Now it’s called Panini Origins. Yes, it’s a new brand but from the design to the name, the inspiration is obvious. The card brings with it an on-card autograph. Unlike a lot of players in the early-season release, Elliott is also included in his full uniform with jersey number. Many rookies have “00” as their final numbers weren’t known when the photos were taken. Although the base version of the card isn’t serial numbered, the handful of parallels that go with it are.

Parallels: Red (/49), Blue (/25), Turquoise (/15), Gold (/10), Green (/5), Black (1/1)

Buy on:

17. 2016 Donruss Signature Series Ezekiel Elliott RC #264 Auto Jersey

2016 Donruss Signature Series Football has some elegant designs to go with the foil stock. However, the etching, texture and shiny background don’t do the sticker signature any favors. As far as rarity goes, although not serial numbered, this isn’t a Rookie Card that’s going to show up with much regularity.

Parallels: Holo Silver (/50), Gold (/25), Holo Gold (/15), Platinum (1/1)

Buy on:

16. 2016 Panini Unparalleled Ezekiel Elliott RC #204 Auto Jersey /99

With Panini’s football exclusive kicking off in 2016, it meant several new brands. Unparalleled is one of them. While the card has a familiar mix of an autograph and a jersey swatch, the design stands apart from other sets. It uses many elements and lines in ways that can often be too much. Yet, it stays focused. Inserted in packs as a redemption, it’s limited to 99 copies making Elliott a short printed among his rookie peers.

Parallels: Orange (/49), Red (/25), Blue (/10), Green (/5), Brand Logo (/2), NFL Shield (1/1)

15. 2016 Panini Prizm Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card #238

One of the cornerstones of virtually every modern chromium release is Refractor parallels — or Prizms as Prizm calls them. All Rookie Cards in 2016 Panini Prizm Football get the rainbow Silver Prizms treatment normally reserved for the parallels. This adds a little extra shine. And while there isn’t an autograph or serial number in sight, this could be one of Elliott’s more popular Rookie Cards on a broader scale for those with less of a budget, similar to how Topps Chrome was in the past.

Parallels: Blue Prizms, Flash Prizms, Green Prizms, Pink Prizms, Red Prizms, Red/White/Blue Prizms, Orange Prizms (/299), Light Blue Prizms (/199), Blue Wave Prizms (/149), Purple Scope Prizms (/99), Red Crystals Prizms (/75), Green Power Prizms (/49), Camo Prizms (/25), Gold Prizms (/10), Gold Vinyl Prizms (/5), Black Finite Prizms (1/1)

14. 2016 Panini Preferred Ezekiel Elliott RC #64 Auto Jersey /99

The 2016 Panini Preferred Ezekiel Elliott falls under the Silhouettes banner. The style of card has a history dating back to Pacific Trading Cards and has a large player-worn jersey swatch layered under the main card. The other key features are an on-card signature and low numbering to 99 copies. It also doesn’t have a lot of parallels to go with it.

Parallels: Prime (/25), Printing Plates Black (1/1), Printing Plates Cyan (1/1), Printing Plates Magenta (1/1), Printing Plates Yellow (1/1), Super Prime (1/1)

13. 2016 Panini Infinity Ezekiel Elliott RC #184 Autograph /288

Another new brand, the 2016 Panini Infinity Ezekiel Elliott brings with it a feeling of metal. Numbered to 288, it’s more plentiful than many of the Cowboys standout’s other autographed Rookie Cards. It’s also live in packs as opposed to a redemption.

Parallels: Gold (/8), Copper (1/1)

Buy on:

12. 2016 Immaculate Collection Collegiate Ezekiel Elliott RC #105 /99

2016 Immaculate Collection Collegiate is one of a handful of brands to come out before an eventual NFL counterpart. Elliott’s presence, like a lot of rookies, starts with an on-card autograph on an acetate card. From there, things get a little confusing with the parallels as there are three different memorabilia versions that come in at the same spot on the checklist and with similar serial numbers.

Parallels: Patch Autographs (/99), Premium Patches Autographs (/99), Signature Patches (/99),  Gold (/25), Patch Autographs Gold (/25), Signature Patches Gold (/25), Numbers Autographs (/15), Premium Patches Autographs Gold (/10), Patch Autographs Platinum (1/1) , Platinum (1/1), Premium Patches Autographs  Platinum (1/1), Signature Patches Platinum (1/1)

11. 2016 Certified Ezekiel Elliott RC #204 Auto Jersey /149

Certified has been around for a while. With it comes some expectations and habits. For key rookies, it means autographs and memorabilia. For elite rookies, it also means smaller print runs. That’s the case with the 2016 Certified Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card. The base version, a redemption, has just 149 copies. However, this is one of those cards where parallels make a different. Although not Rookie Cards in the traditional sense, there are more than 250 Mirror parallels.

Parallels: Mirror Orange (/99), Mirror Red (/75), Mirror Blue (/50), Mirror Gold (/25), Mirror Purple (/10), Mirror Green (/5), Mirror Black (1/1)

Buy on:

10. 2016 Limited Ezekiel Elliott RC #123 Auto Patch /149

Another autograph-patch combination, the 2016 Limited Ezekiel Elliott is slightly more plentiful than some of his other on-card options but 149 copies is still very much rare.

Parallels: Silver Spotlight (/49), Gold Spotlight (/25), Ruby Spotlight (/10), Sapphire Spotlight (1/1)

9. 2016 Panini Playbook Ezekiel Elliott RC #104 Auto Dual Jersey /99

The 2016 Panini Playbook Ezekiel Elliott might have the same autographed memorabilia attributes many of his other Rookie Cards have. It’s the presentation that sets this one apart, most notably the booklet format. The acetate signing surface and profile photo are other notable parts of the design. At 99 copies, he’s rarer than most other rookies in the product.

Parallels: Gold (/75), Platinum (/49), Green (/25), Red (/10), Glove (/5), Printing Plates Black (1/1), Printing Plates Cyan (1/1), Printing Plates Magenta (1/1), Printing Plates Yellow (1/1), NFL Shield (1/1), Nike Swoosh (1/1)

8. 2016 Immaculate Collection Ezekiel Elliott RC #111 Auto Patch /99

As Panini continues to trot out more and more super premium lines, Immaculate Collection Rookie Cards may not stand out quite like they used to. But they’re still among the top in the hobby as far as value goes. The 2016 Immaculate Collection Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card has the trademark print run of 99 copies, an on-card autograph and a patch piece from a player-worn jersey. That said, it’s a redemption. The product does have other similar looking inserts that are live in the product, though.

Parallels: Gold (/25), Rookie Patch Autographs Jersey Number (/21), Platinum (1/1), Rookie Patch Autographs NFL Shield (1/1)

7. 2016 Panini Encased Ezekiel Elliott RC #115 Autograph /49

2016 Panini Encased Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Cards were distributed in packs already graded by BGS. Prices can fluctuate somewhat based on the final grade but with just 49 copies, there aren’t a lot to start with. Besides the grading aspect, cards are highlighted by an on-card signature.

Parallels: Silver (/10), Gold (/5), Platinum (1/1)

Buy on:

6. 2016 National Treasures Collegiate Ezekiel Elliott RC #205 Auto Patch /99

Although it may have some competition now, National Treasures is probably still regarded as the most iconic of Panini’s ultra high-end brands. With the addition of the NCAA license, it also meant an expansion of the brand into college-themed cards. While likely not quite as desirable as his NFL version, the 2016 National Treasures Collegiate Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card still has a lot of the big elements like a large swatch and on-card signature. Considering the limited print run of the base version, there are a lot of parallels to go with it.

5. 2016 Panini Spectra Ezekiel Elliott RC #174 Auto Patch /99

Just like Elliott’s other card on the 2016 Panini Spectra main checklist, this one has lots going on between its various lines and chromium finish. However, the addition of a nice sized patch from a player-worn jersey and an autograph make it much more valuable. Most of the parallels are a little bit different as well. The colors aren’t limited to just the background. The pens used for the autographs match, making things even brighter.

4. 2016 Panini Impeccable Ezekiel Elliott RC #154 Auto Helmet/Patch /75

2016 Panini Impeccable Football made its debut in 2016. While Panini already has a lot of high-end brands, this one is in the upper tier. And before you even look at the value, the card reflects that. It’s signed on-card and has both a piece of a helmet and a patch swatch. While not all of the patches have multiple colors, many of them do, even at the base level. The feel of the card is also different from other Panini brands as it’s printed on canvas-style stock. And with just 75 copies, this will be one of the rarest Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Cards.

And while it’s not signed, it does have a diamond embedded in it. If you’re looking for high-end autographs, 2016 Panini Flawless has several of those featuring Elliott among its inserts.

Weren’t we just saying how the Contenders brand was big. Here’s further proof. This one isn’t serial numbered (if the list is complete, Panini didn’t include it among the short prints). Yet, the 2016 Panini Contenders Ezekiel Elliott Rookie Card sits in the top tier of the list. And that’s despite the fact that it’s a redemption as well. Part of the Rookie Ticket RPS subset, the final card should be hard-signed.

Couple that with the signature, large patch swatch (many of which have multiple colors) and the lasting popularity National Treasures, and you get the picture. 2016 National Treasures marks the brand’s tenth anniversary. Debuting as the company’s highest end line, that spectrum has evolved but there’s still no questioning where NT stands.

He may be popular right now, but I say “so what?!” He plays for an NFL team I don’t like and, even worse, played on a college team I detest. Not to derail your article, but I wonder how many people look for his cards strictly based on temporary popularity (remember Johnny Manziel, everyone?!!!)

Isn’t this the case every year in every sport, though. And isn’t that part of collecting? Big difference between Elliott (and Prescott) over Manziel is that they’re playing at a high level — on one of the most popular teams in all of sports.

As an OSU fan and a Giants fan it pained me when Dallas drafted Zeke and pains me even more to want and buy his cards but the kid is special. I know the O line is great but he would still put up 1200+ yds in say Chicago.

Kerry… I live minutes from the Horseshoe and love the Buckeyes. As for the comparison between Zeke and Manziel…well there really isnt any. Manziel was a bust and Zekes just shy of the all time rushing record which he had a great chance of breaking before politics sidelined him. Whens the last time a player from any sport generated this much buzz in the card collection world. If anything his cards will become scarce and value increase due to demand.

You said the immaculate redemption is live, but the one pictured is the jumbo Jersey not the RC base, my redemption is still sitting waiting for Panini to redeem

Thanks for the heads up. The designs for the two cards are very similar. It has been updated.

I’m shocked! I have not even got a sniff of info on it from the internet. I have two dealers looking into it.
    Any thoughts?

The 2016 Panini Contenders Ezekiel Elliott rookie ticket #310 doesn’t exist. We are going into 2018 and not one panini contenders rookie ticket base card is available in the open market. Does anyone know the story here? Anyone contact panini about it?
