No Chicago Bears in 2022 Score?

No Chicago Bears in 2022 Score?
So I saw this question pop up on the news page regarding the release of 2022 Score, but since you have to dig to find that kind of thing now (LOL), I thought I'd bring it up here.

According to both the checklist and a brief check of DBay, there appear to be no Chicago Bears base veterans in the 2022 Score Football set.

Rookies? Yes. Inserts of veterans? Yes.

But no base cards ... as our friend JP pointed out, no Justin Fields, no Darnell Mooney, no David Montgomery, no Roquan Smith, no Eddie Jackson, etc. ... five pretty good players right there.

I mean, has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

Even in the "Gem Fire Bro Era" of base sets that top out at a mighty 100 cards, there are usually 2-3 base cards of each team.

What if someone out there has collected a Score base set of Chicago Bears every year since the original release in 1989?

I think this may be the final death knell in Panini caring about or catering to the real collectors.

JP, my friend, I don't know what to tell you.

I will have to look at the cards to confirm, but there are indeed no Bears listed on the base checklist.

And I also just replied to myself (for the sixth time) on each of my outstanding damaged card tickets on the Panini site ... 8 months and counting for one, 7 months and counting for the other.

How does that happen? All the other teams have 7-11 vets/retired (or thereabouts). Huge oversight. Never seen that before. Even the sets that only have 100 base vets have at least 1 card representing each team.
I collect Andre Johnson, JJ Watt, Redskins who played in the 70’s & 80’s, HOF’ers and Texas A&M Aggies.

They can create their own Prizm shoes, but they can't put David Montgomery a running back who made the Top 100 NFL Players of 2022 in a 300 Card Base Set.

Speaks volumes, doesn't it

Yep, and I can vouch for this as a fan of two of the crappiest organizations in all of pro sports, the Sacramento Kings and the Detroit Lions.

Even in their usually mediocre to awful years, they always had 2-3 base cards even in the 100-card sets.

And it's not like Chicago is a major media market with a huge fan base or anything ...

They are the worst.

If I had literally any other choice for football and basketball cards, I would never buy a single pack of Padooshi again.

I have realized that my mostly buying Sage, Leaf, and Onyx products now is a result of what Panini has done to football cards

Yep.

I used to buy a ton of Prestige (like 10-12 blasters every year) when A) they were priced at $19.99 and B) you were guaranteed a relic or auto card (meaning a relic or points card, but still).

This year, with blasters at the low low price of $24.99 and no guaranteed hits, I have bought ... wait for it ... three.

It continues to amaze me that Panini offers less content for more money and thinks this is a sustainable business model.

This thing with the Bears, though ... this takes the cake.

Best case (?) scenario it's an oversight, though I don't see how that's possible ... worst case they truly, legitimately no longer care about actual collectors, set builders, etc.
