very good question I want to say pre-2010, I know from years 1981-1989/90 more likely has the dk subsets certain years after might not have had them.

There was no 2006 set and in 2007 there was Elite Extra Edition. It seems MLB tightened up the rules at the end of '05 and Donruss got squeezed out. 
They were a subset of the main set 1982-1991, an insert set 1992-2002, a subset again 2002-2005. I know this because I’m currently working on collecting the full run of DK cards, including the Panini ones from 2014 to now.
I'm always open to trading. My wants are varied (multiple sets from 1980 to now and some misc. players) and all my wants are marked. Open offers welcome!

The last set Donruss made before Panini took over was the 2009 Donruss Elite Extra Edition.
2005 was the last year for Playoff/ Donruss, There is a fair amount of confusing history with the ownership of the Donruss Brand
Panini has made several Diamond Kings sets since then if you are counting the ones found in products like ... Panini Diamond Kings
