Expired Subscription

Expired Subscription
I recently decided to let my subscription expire.  I will still check the forum every now and then since there is always some interesting posts. But my feeling for cancelling my subscription were 2 reasons. I no longer traded as much as I had in the past and the number of different options that were once provided to me were now being taking away. So, if you send me a trade request, I will no longer be able to respond to your request. Thanks for the many trades over the years and the helpful information that was given to me in the posts. Wishing everyone health and happiness for the holidays and the New Year.
Looking to trade for any Hall of Fame Topps base cards.

RE: Expired Subscription
Hey,
I did the same thing. I was trying to make threads to get some trades going, but rarely did it help. There seems to be only a handful or so of people that actually post or comment on these message boards. It's a shame because this site used to be a hot spot for trading. I'm hoping something will change, but not expecting it to.

RE: Expired Subscription
Over the years on Beckett I have seen this post often...

"Hey, hit me up for a trade!"

It is putting the ground work for a trade on someone else rather than put in the effort yourself. It takes time and patience to put out a trade offer that actually might happen. Why ask others to do that instead of those who want to make trades doing the work?

If Beckett could somehow show inactive ORG accounts when searching for a card, then more people would try to trade for their wants. If people with cards for trade would stop being so picky about what they get in return, that would also help.

Beckett is not as successful for trading as it once was because many no longer want to put in the time and effort, and also because Beckett has not listened to its members' complaint about old inactive ORGs making trading so much more difficult.

KB,
You are correct. I spent a lot of time looking for active traders. I used to look at the last log in date, but that is misleading so I started looking and people's trader scores and when the last time someone left feedback for them. That worked out better for me, but it still wasn't fool proof.

I think we all have some great ideas/suggestions that would make Beckett a better place. It wouldn't be that hard to have some kind of icon or something to let everyone know that a certain person is an active trader that has access to organize.

I spent hours and hours of trying to find active traders that I could trade with. It worked sometimes and other times it did not.

My biggest pet peeve with this site or users of this site is communication. I always send a comment when I make a trade offer. Many times people ignore my message and just cancel the trade without any reason. It isn't that hard to take 30 to 45 seconds to let the other trader know your thoughts.

Beckett needs to have the 10 users that post of this site still be part of a board that can give Beckett ideas and suggestions on how to make this a great site again. They could provide us with free pricing or whatever so it wouldn't cost them anything and we could make Beckett a place that people want to come to again.

RE: Expired Subscription
I agree with many of the comments that Akaus and KB have made. That the emphasis to improve this site should be the responsibility of Beckett and not make the subscribers do more of the work. When the price of my subscription continued to be increased then that should come with many new improvements to the site. Instead I lost the ability to print my ORG. Limit the number of searches, and limit the number of cards listed in my ORG to 250. So if Beckett thinks I’m going to pay more for less it’s not going to happen. I know my comments are falling on deaf ears. But at least I’m not wasting my money on a subscription that is no longer worth it. Waiting for how long my post will be deleted or criticized. Remember the 1st Amendment. lol

Great points, all ... I would volunteer for the Jedi Council to improve this site.

My #1 thing would be to bring back the free trade and ORG for up to 100 items.

Then I could trade legally.

I just wonder where the disconnect is. You all have good suggestions. Why don't we get at least a response from Beckett. Lately, we've gotten the the opposite.

At this point, it's almost embarrassing how invested I am in the Beckett website.  OPG, Organize, Trade, and Forum browsing are significant portions of my daily routine.

I'm not the only one.  My real-life career has been built on continuous improvement. It drives me crazy to experience this site every day with no significant changes for the better in I don't know how long.

The definition of insanity is to repeat behavior or action that is not successful or beneficial.

Being a member of Beckett makes me insane.

Well part of that is because I keep sending you trade offers lol.

But I hear you on this. Beckett is a daily check-in for me, and typically more than once a day. I'm constantly adding new stuff to my org for trade, seeking out new trades and trade partners, scrolling through the forums, etc.

I'm always trying to be quick with getting trades done when they are sent to me so they don't sit stale.

I do agree that taking away things that a lot of us collectors used and got when we paid for subscriptions is frustrating. I can understand them wanting to "protect proprietary info" and all that, but I subscribe to the Total Access OPG, so I'm dropping $41 per month to use the site and all it's different functions. I don't feel I should be limited and have things taken away when I'm paying for it.

It's like a streaming service. I don't pay for the top package then get told I'm limited on how many movies I can watch.

I wish I could simply log into the trade section just to comment/cancel trades sent to me.  Last time I re-upped for an org, around 3-4 years ago, I found I had multiple trades sent to me from months or even over a year hanging out there.  I would have liked to have been able to let them know I didn't have an active sub.  Best thing I could do is modify my trade preferences to note I don't have an org.
