2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Orange Refractor Mike Trout Autograph Over $80,000 (with Over a Week to Go)
A 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Orange Refractor Mike Trout autograph is currently sitting with an $82,000 bid at Goldin Auctions. It’s already believed to be a record for a public sale of the card — and the auction doesn’t close until March 2.
Graded Gem Mint BGS 9.5, the card is one of the toughest parallels for Trout’s first Bowman Chrome autograph. It has 10 sub-grades for both Corners and Surface. Edges are 9.5 and Centering is 9.
The 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Orange Refractor Mike Trout autograph has just 25 copies. This particular card is copy 14/25.
Only the Red Refractor (/5), Superfractor (1/1) and four different Printing Plates (each 1/1) are more rare.
Needless to say, copies of the card do not show up for sale publicly often. In November, 2017, a BGS 9.5 sold on eBay for $50,753. Until now, it is believed that this is the most paid for the Orange Refractor in a public sale. And in case you were wondering where these started at, in May, 2010 a BGS 9.5 copy went for $550 on eBay.
The Superfractor sold in May, 2018 for $400,000.
The 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Orange Refractor Mike Trout autograph is part of Goldin’s 2019 Winter Auction.
