2015-16 Donruss Basketball offers old-school fun and more
By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Basketball Editor
Old-school collecting fun is back again with 2015-16 Donruss Basketball, but there are many modern twists that will please those that bust open some packs and boxes.
With designs based off of classic Donruss baseball sets from the 1980s and plenty of solid action photography, 2015-16 Donruss Basketball does offer something that can satisfy most collectors. Each box should contain three autograph or memorabilia hits on average and some of them include members of this season’s promising rookie class.
Base Set
With eight cards in every pack of 2015-16 Donruss Basketball, putting the 250-card set together may not take an extreme effort. It offers up a solid selection of 200 NBA veterans along with 50 of the best freshmen in the Rated Rookie subset. The look transports collectors back to the 1980s to the point where one could almost expect to find puzzle pieces inside of the packs. Expect to find several parallel versions of these cards, some of which are limited to quantities based on a player’s statistics.
Inserts
Elite Dominators are among the insert cards returning in 2015-16 Donruss Basketball. Exclusive to hobby packs, theu cover both stars and prospects. In some cases, there are Elite Dominators Signatures that are limited to just 25 copies each.
Autographs and Memorabilia
For many, the main chase in 2015-16 Donruss Basketball boils down to the autographed memorabilia cards. Rookie Material Signatures focus on top talents with pieces of jerseys worn in the 2015 NBA Rookie Photo Shoot and Rated Rookie Signature Patches see signed manufactured patches embedded into the cards.
As a virtual continuation of last season, Timeless Treasures echo 1988 Donruss Baseball and bring both an autograph and memorabilia. In 2014-15, the design was based off of 1987 Donruss Baseball and was well-received by collectors that pulled them from packs.

Anyone know if these are hobby only? I missed out on last year’s stuff. Donruss football had retail this year, so I’m hoping it’s the same for basketball.
Don’t know for certain, but would guess very likely. Donruss typically has a solid retail presence.
hi,i think if you came out with elite extra edition chrome autograph cards in a box,i think that would give bowman chrome baseball,a run for their money, all cards would be chrome, including inserts, thank you.
