2018 Panini Elite Draft Picks Football Variations Gallery
The 2018 Panini Elite Draft Picks Football variations offer a double-take on more than 50 rookies. Unlike a lot of variations, these are more of a second card to go after than a super short print.
That said, there are short prints as well for select base cards and variations. It’s a lot less confusing than it sounds. And we’re here to make it even easier.
In a nutshell, every card in the Draft Picks subset (#101-150, 152-154, 158) have two different cards. For most, it means a jersey color switch. From all appearances, both versions appear to be available in similar quantities. This is an approach taken recently with 2017-18 Panini Ascension Basketball.
Variation (and Base) Short Prints
That said, some spots on the broader Draft Picks checklist, encompassing both the regular and variation versions, are short prints. So, for Sam Darnold, each of his cards are harder to find than either of Josh Rosen’s.
When you look at a player’s variation pair, each have the same amount. This carries over to the parallels as well, which come in seven Status Die Cut and seven matching Aspirations colors.
Ten players are SP making for 20 total. Even then, they’re not extremely tough. According to Panini, every box but one in a 16-box case of 2018 Panini Elite Draft Picks Football has a short print. So, you’ll get almost a full set of short prints in a case.
Here’s the list of short print players:

I was wondering about these…I just opened a box and got both variations of Rosen, Allen and Barkley, but neither Darnold. Rosen AU/25 was a nice pull though!
Maybe I missed this, but are the variations printed equally? Sort of like what they did with Contenders Draft Picks Basketball last year? As a USC fan I’m a little bummed that Darnold is a SP.
In the Price Guide it just lists A and B with no description of the variations. Is it possible, since you have this list, to get brief descriptions added to the database?
Does anyone have any pricing for these variations? I have no local card shops and the ebay prices r extremely low on people like barkley and mayfield. If any one can shed some light on this i would greatly appreciate it
@Wayne – They’re listed in the online price guide, which can be accessed here (subscription required): https://www.beckett.com/price-guides/football
The variations and base are available in equal quantities so there really isn’t a premium for one or the other. It’s more a matter that each card has two versions.
