2021 Panini Instant Rated Rookie Retro Football takes it back 30 years, at least for the foundation of its design.
The print-on-demand mini set uses the 1991 Donruss Baseball design as a springboard to showcase top current rookies. There is a bit of a tweak, though as borders aren’t just the original blue and green. Instead, colors change to match the player’s team.
The checklist has 40 cards total, including Trevor Lawrence, Mac Jones, Ja’Marr Chase, Trey Lance and many of the other key first-year standouts.
2021 Panini Instant Rated Rookie Retro Football is available through the card maker’s website for two weeks starting April 18, 2022. Sold only in set form and not as singles, each costs $49.99 on their own. However, there are discounts for lots of five, 10 and 25 sets. The print run will be determined by what’s ordered.
