Beckett 20 questions on … Jose Abreu and other Major League Baseball stars from Cuba
By Chris Olds | Beckett Baseball Editor
Jose Abreu just might be this year’s Yasiel Puig when it comes to cardboard.
Or, do we ask … is he better?
The Chicago White Sox slugger’s first month in Major League Baseball isn’t even over and he’s already staked a claim to a pair of rookie records. His 10 home runs lead MLB and is the best mark for a rookie for the month. His 31-RBI total, which he reached on Sunday, topped the rookie mark set by a past hobby power, Albert Pujols, in 2001.
Puig, of course, set the hobby ablaze with the Dodgers last year in his first season since leaving Cuba and Abreu is just the latest star from the baseball-focused country.
What do you think of Abreu’s hot start? How well do you know your Cuban baseball? Let us know in the comments below and take a look at our latest installment of 20 Questions.

Hi Chris
Either I’m getting every question right, because that what show up in bold print, or it just showing me what answer I picked and you’re not giving us the answers…Would like to know the answers…Thanks Bob
+1 on the answers. Also, not fair to lump a relativly unknownor small sample size player in with a HOF in the slugger question. I picked Tony P as I know what I would be getting……potential doesn’t equate to actual. Great questions though & loved the Tony Taylor!
Abreu has been insane. Should win AL ROY. He has a public autograph signing coming up in a couple of weeks.
