I would love a questions about auto/relic rookies versus regular non-hit autos
woops, I meant non-hit rookies
I have enjoyed collecting again after a long break for the awesome autographed and jersey chase cards.I love those inserts and because of it IM BACK BABY!!!
Phony rookie card mania is ruining football cards. It will be easy to stay away this year other than base Topps and a few select sets.
even though i did the survey, i still consider a rookie card whatever anyone truly wants it to be, call it rc, xrc, first prospect, first card, whatever…collect what you want to collect.
to add to the question that talked about the importance of a good rookie class, the lack of good rookies in football has really impacted my buying. i usually collect football last out of the main 4, but its waaaaay down there now…. it is a complete 180 when it comes to rcs in football (this yr compared to last yr). for me, i buy hockey no matter what, but the other main 3 are totally impacted by the rookie class.
Truthfully, these card company’s are going overboard with mass production of rookie cards. I love the autograph refractors, but why not slow it down with the millions of base cards.its ruining the price.also I have been away from collecting for many years,I started in 1985 I was 7 years old, still have Michael Jordan rookies Jose cansaco rated rookie cards ken Griffey jr. Bo Jackson, I really miss those days where the market was not flooded with garbage.i wish someone would do away with press pass also. I also am wondering what is going on with the defensive players? Why so cheap? It’s rediculous the amount of people who only want the great qb’s or the guy who puts it over the fence. Where are the barkeveous Mingos &t.j. Graham’s Dennis Romans fair pricing. I know t.j. Graham is not a defensive player but he is gonna be amazing. Also why is warren sapp’s cards so low? He was awesome, and recently made the hall of fame. Sorry for going on but in all seriousness. I am happy for the most part of the way things have been going lately with football cards and baseball cards.

The time period you mention was the start of the over production era. There were more cards printed in the ’80s and early ’90s than are printed now. I would say it’s not even close.
I would agree that there is too much now as far as viariaty though. It can weater down the impact of a guy when he has 100 different rookies.
