Beckett Headliners: Nassib, Booker, & Wander
Living in the 24-hour news cycle can sometimes be overwhelming. With so much to keep up with, it’s easy to miss something from time to time. That’s where this Beckett Headliners series comes into play. Hopefully, a daily look as newsmakers from the night before, or early morning breaking news. So, let’s get started. Here is the Beckett Headliners: 6/22 edition.
Carl Nassib
By now you have certainly seen the news that Las Vegas Raiders Defensive End, Carl Nassib, publicly announced that he is gay. Without social commentary, Nassib’s announcement had an immediate effect on his cards. Not so much in value, rather how they were listed on the secondary market. I won’t dignify how some sellers listed his cards, but I will say that Nassib’s business shouldn’t, in any way, affect your business. Here’s to Carl and a successful 2021 NFL season.
Devin Booker
To be fair, this one isn’t on Booker. Surprise, surprise, it’s on Stephen A. Smith. Calling Booker the next Kobe Bryant is just absurd. Taking nothing away from Booker, he has a long way to go before he could be crowned the next Kobe. Besides, why not let him just be, I don’t know, Devin Booker. Someone should ask J.R. Rider or Harold Miner how being the next Michael Jordan worked out for them. You do you Book.
Wander Franco
Our final entry on our Beckett Headliners: 6/22 edition is, Wander Franco. All of you prospectors out there, this is your time to shine. Head to your shoeboxes, your graded cases, and your secret stashes and pull those Franco’s out. The Hobby has seen you positioning yourselves since 2019. So, when baseball’s top prospect debuts later today, be ready.
