Beckett Sports Card Hot / Cold – November 5, 2022
Welcome to another Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold where we take a fun and quick look at what’s hot and what’s not in the worlds of sports cards and sports. It also happens to be time change weekend so don’t forget to set your clock back and hope the pets catch on so you can get an extra hour of sleep.
2022 Topps Update Series Baseball has been out for a full week now. Between hobby and retail, a lot of people are ripping it. Whether it’s building sets, hunting for rookies, searching for variation short prints or just opening a few packs of flagship, there’s the usual broad appeal.
It’s also World Series time, at least for a little bit longer, so baseball’s at the forefront. With the Houston Astros in the driver’s seat, a handful of players have stepped up including Cristian Javier who led Houston to a no-hitter in Game 4. From a hobby perspective, it continues to be rookie shortstop Jeremy Peña.
The Philadelphia Eagles are the last undefeated team in the NFL, taking their record to 8-0 with their win Thursday night over Houston. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is starting to draw more attention with collectors once again. In the process, he’s further bolstering already strong 2020 products that have his Rookie Cards. There’s still a big gap between his cards and Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert but Hurts is definitely picking up steam.
