Beckett Sports Card Hot / Cold – October 2, 2020
It’s time for Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold where we take a quick look at what’s hot and what’s not in the worlds of sports and sports cards. It’s a new month with some new names and several familiar faces.
Fernando Tatis Jr. continues to establish himself as one of baseball biggest breakout stars of the last few years. He’s not only putting up big numbers for the Padres, but he’s doing it in electric fashion. There’s also the fact that the San Diego Padres have emerged as legit World Series contenders. With a wild Wild Card round, things should slow down a little bit, offering more opportunities for postseason heroics. It’s the playoffs, so there’ll be some missed opportunities as well.
With the NBA Finals beginning, LeBron James has an opportunity to elevate his hobby status even further. Should the Lakers win, look for Anthony Davis to take a big step in the collecting world. For the Heat, it’s primarily about Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro at this point, especially now that Bam Adebayo is dealing with injuries.
Hockey wrapped up its season with the Tampa Bay Lightning hoisting the Stanley Cup with Steven Stamkos finally getting his name on the trophy. Victor Hedman’s Conn Smythe performance will give him a bump in collecting circles as well.
This week’s Hot/Cold is brought to you by Dynasty Breaks.
