This Is Currently the Only Jon Rahm Golf Card
With his 2023 Masters victory, Jon Rahm has now won two of the PGA’s majors. His green jacket from Augusta joins his 2021 US Open win. Add to that being the world’s top ranked golfer and you’d think there’d be some choices when it came to Jon Rahm cards.
Nope. There’s just one. And it’s not even a traditional golf card in the sense that it didn’t come from a pack or box set.
Like so many other athletes that don’t come from the major hobby sports of baseball, basketball, football, hockey or soccer, Jon Rahm’s first — and so far, only — golf card can be found inside an issue of Sports Illustrated for Kids magazine.
Rahm is one of nine athletes included on a sheet in the April, 2019 issue. The golfer is card #816. Rahm sits in the bottom-middle position of the sheet, directly below LeBron James.
Like all Sports Illustrated for Kids cards, it has perforated edges holding it together with the sheet. This can easily lead to small tears and paper loss even if the separation is done carefully. These sheets are also notorious for their centering.
Even before his Masters win, the 2019 Sports Illustrated for Kids John Rahm had been selling for $30-$40 raw on eBay. So far, there isn’t enough data to see how much of an impact, if any, the green jacket has had.
eBay is littered with a lot of homemade or “custom” Jon Rahm cards. They’re not licensed in any form and carry no sort of long-term collectible value. They might make for fun novelties to individuals, but that’s about it.
