Great Scott! It’s Back to the Future Day. Every October 21st, fans of the Back to the Future Franchise celebrate the day on which Doc and Marty travel to. A harmless tradition that brings back fond memories of everyone’s 1980s time-traveling franchise. Well, unless of course, you are remembering that ZZ Top song in part three. No one likes that. Either way, here are Five Key Back to the Future Comics to help enjoy the day.

Back to the Future #1

Published in November 1991, Back to the Future #1, is the first issue of a limited series based on the short-lived animated series. Written by Dwayne McDuffie and illustrated by Gil Kane, this Harvey publication can be picked up in the $10 to $25 range.

Transfromers/Back to the Future #1

IDW published Transformers/Back to the Future #1 in September of 2020.  Cavan Scott penned this crossover which gives readers the first appearance of Gigawatt. Which, if you haven’t figured out by now, is the DeLorean from Back to the Future, only as Transformer. Collectors can grab this one for in that same $10 to $25 range as well.

Go Go Power Rangers #4

BOOM! Studios paid tribute to Back to the Future with this variant Go Go Power Rangers #4 cover. Issued in October of 2017, this is a 1:25 incentive written by Ryan Parrott and illustrated by Natacha Bustos. Expect to spend somewhere between $25 and $60 for this book.

The Mall #3

All things considered, the cover art for The Mall #3 may be the best tribute to Back to the Future in the comic world. The setting and timelines for both the film and this book seem to be in sync. Rafael Loureiro nailed this one. So, the $10 or so it will take to buy this one is a no-brainer.

Back to the Future #1

We saved the best for last on Back to the Future Day List.  IDW Published this Doug Chiang variant cover which was available via mystery box subscription of ZBox. Brilliantly enough, it launched on 10/21/2015, a fitting tribute to the franchise. Collectors will find this has been selling for about $150, but don’t be surprised to see asking prices higher than that.
