Miracle On Ice Comes To The National
By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Hockey Editor
While members of the 1980 United States Olympic Team recently held a reunion in Lake Placid celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Miracle On Ice, collectors will get an opportunity to meet many of them this summer at the 2015 National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago.
This will be a rare opportunity to receive an autograph and interact with 16 of the men who were behind one of the greatest upsets in sports history along with the team’s general manager, Hockey Hall of Fame member Craig Patrick. While the prices for this experience and the date and time have yet to be published, the show will run from July 29 to August 2 at Rosemont’s Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
Which players will be signing? Find out after the jump.
The May 2015 issue of Beckett Hockey will have an interview with goaltender Jim Craig, who will undoubtedly be a popular signer. The other players expected to be in attendance include team captain Mike Eruzione along with Neal Broten, Dave Christian, John Harrington, Steve Janaszak, Rob McClanahan, Ken Morrow, Jack O’Callahan, Mike Ramsey, Buzz Schneider, Dave Silk, Eric Strobel, Phil Verchota, Mark Wells, and Mark Johnson.
Team members Steve Christoff, Bill Baker and Mark Pavelich will not be in attendance. Sadly, team member Bob Suter passed away recently and coach Herb Brooks died in 2003.
Tristar has also announced that Hockey Hall of Fame member and Chicago Blackhawks icon Bobby Hull will also be signing at the National.
