It only took 15 weeks but we finally have our first playoff team. The Packers won the NFC North and Aaron Rodgers is in the hunt for the league MVP. Other teams improved their playoff outlook this weekend as well. The Cowboys took care of business against the Giants and Buffalo got a much needed win.
Let’s take a look at the weekly MVPs that collectors could be paying more attention to.
Travis Kelce
The Kansas City Chiefs are finally back on top of the AFC standings with their win over the Chargers. Patrick Mahomes was dominant as always, but we are going to look at Travis Kelce today. He had a massive game, catching ten passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns. Kelce has been the hottest tight end with collectors for a few years now and as long as he has Mahomes throwing him passes that shouldn’t change any time soon. Another player that had a big game was Tyreek Hill with 148 yards and another touchdown. Both players should be watched by collectors during the playoffs.
Duke Johnson
Who would have guessed that the Miami Dolphins would be on one of the longest winning streaks in the NFL? After starting the season 1-7, the Dolphins have rattled off six straight wins and are in the playoff hunt. In their most recent win over the Jets, Duke Johnson rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson has had a quiet season, getting most of his season’s yards in this game. His cards are a bargain right now.
Amon-Ra St. Brown
The Lions won another game and it was against one of the most dominant teams in the league this season, the Cardinals. That win produced our rookie of the week, with Amon-Ra St. Brown. Not only does he have a cool name but he had a great game as well. He caught eight passes for 90 yards and a touchdown. Being on the Lions isn’t always the best for one’s collectability but if they can rebuild into playoff contenders, St. Brown should be a cornerstone for the team.
