Youth is king: Mike Trout and Bryce Harper win AL and NL Rookie of Year awards

The Rookie of the Year voting is over and two hobby mainstays of this season took home the awards.

In the American League, 21-year-old Angels outfielder Mike Trout won via unanimous vote becoming the youngest ROY in AL history.

Meanwhile, over in the National League, 20-year-old Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper became the second-youngest Rookie of the Year in MLB history and the youngest position player to pick up the honor.

In all, Trout appears on 680 total cards in the Beckett.com database (click here for a checklist or Online Price Guide) valued at $33,787 not including cards too scarce to price. Of those, 520 are serial-numbered, 237 feature certified autographs and 141 are memorabilia cards with a piece of a game-used item embedded into them. He appears on eight Rookie Cards from 2011 products.

Harper appears on 583 cards totaling $40,617.50 not including those too rare to price (click here for a checklist or OPG) with 11 Rookie Cards from this season and 201 certified autographs on his cardboard resume so far.
