WOW! Most of the 2024 Topps Update RCs have down arrows
|
Part of the 7 wonders of the world!
Considering every single notable rookie has a Topps Chrome RC already, I really havent ever seen as bad of a checklist as 2024 Topps Update has.
The obvious exception is Skenes, but we all know how risky Pitchers can be to collect if you're in to value.
Beckett gonna down arrow
The down arrows are because the earliest sales of base cards are almost always the peak of the market - barring a major leap in a player's performance (think 2011 Update Trout after he took off in 2012).
Right after launch, people get FOMO and overpay for base cards. Once more of the product gets in the market, FOMO goes away and prices get to where they should actually be. At least Beckett is paying attention to the reality of the market. (Even though an Update Skenes sells for $5-8, rather than the $12 BV it currently has.) The prices on this stuff is through the roof and people would be drooling all over themselves if this was the Series 1 checklist. This rookie class is deep nd it's not just people chasing Skenes parallels that's caused the prices to skyrocket. Regardless of if they've had a Chrome RC or not, flagship/Update is still a bigger seller than Chrome and what a lot of people think of when they think rookies. Last Thursday I saw over 50 Chrome mega boxes on the shelf at Scheel's and not so much as a single hanger pack of Update. - RCs and rookie debuts of Skenes, Merrill, Chourio, Holliday, Langford, Keith, Pages, and Jones. - RCs of Leiter and Lipscomb. - Rookie debuts of Elly, Dominguez, Imanaga, Yamamoto, Winn, Caminero, Cowser, Westburg, Kjerstad, Rafaela, Crow-Armstrong, Lawlar, Marte, Encarnacion-Strand, Schanuel, Frelick, Mauricio, Lee, and Luciano. And those are just the guys everyone already knows. Max Muncy's Topps RC is one of those combo cards that everyone hates and tosses in a common box. A lot of the guys I listed won't pan out or turn into what people think they will, but there's other flying under the radar
Well said... good points.
I got one blaster from my LCS, pulled a Skenes RC and called it good on this product.
